Hike to a spectacular 360° view from the highest rock in Antioquia while learning about local history and culture.
La Memoria & Piedra del Tabor (35.000 COP / pers)
Learn about local history and the conflict between 1999-2005 during a fantastic ascent to the biggest rock of Antioquia. The route begins in the main park of San Carlos where we have a guided tour of “the garden of memory” and hear about the Colombian conflict in the region during 1999 – 2005. Afterwards, we begin the 3 hour ascent to the rock passing through the San Antonio path and a beautiful waterfall (La Viejita).
As we go up, we observe the native plants and trees of the region. Upon arriving at the “Piedra del Tabor” (800 m ascent-altitude 1850 masl), we enjoy an amazing 360° view of the valley, mountains and the village. On our way back (2 hour journey), we have a refreshing stop where we can swim in the pool formed by the waterfall and then walk back to the village.
Visit the big natural reserve “Macanal” ascending across the cloud forests and next to the most big waterfall of the region.
The Tahamies way, The Puma's Dwelling
The way of the old indigenous tribes that lived in our region, start at 2.200 m asl, between San Carlos, San Rafael and Guatape.
After 3.5 km walking, ascending 800 meters from the main road, we find a amazing forest rich in flora, fauna and big waterfalls; the way leads us to a little valley where we can see the big Guatape region previously inhabited by Tahamies and big Pumas.
